Lex - Vocalist
In 1998 lex went to Amsterdam where her outstanding voice got noticed in the underground clubscene.
Being a soulful improviser using her melodious lyrics in various languages she worked as a vocalist with
many great names in dj history.

End of 2000 she left for Italy, performing in many legendary Italian clubs for a year. End 2001 she went
to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to learn her sixth language and various new rhythms. Lex developed a skill for
creating and freestyling melodies and lyrics while listening to the dj's live set. She is now performing all
over the world. In the rest of Europe, Asia, and the U.S her voice was heard and her talent applauded.
She likes to combine her skills with DJ's such as: Eric the Man, Angelo Cassie 6, Mark Doyle (Hed
Kandi, UK), Robert Owens (Chicago, USA), Phats & Small (UK), Alton Miller

Interpretation

A great jazz-dance and music show that in a very contemporary way rewrites the jazz history in all its
variety. The original cast consists of eleven dancers lex as a multitalented jazz singer and the raw beats
of a fantasic dj.

He second version of the show, will have many more songs, choreographies, dancers and singers and
will start touring Holland end of 2005. In next few years interpretation will go international too.

Sven feat. Lex

When they work together magic happens!!!

Lex and sven met many years ago in café d´anvers. They played together not knowing that they would
not meet again until 8 years after to record the beautiful tracks; "when the sun goes down" and "eneas".

The video from the first track was recorded on the amazing island of Bali and is definitely worth
checking out. They have a special chemistry together when they play that can only be witnessed live.

Lex & Royals

The music of Lex & Royals is a mixture of jazz, funk, soul, latin and dance. Having Lived in Brazil (Rio
de Janeiro), Italy, Spain and now Bali, she got the chance to meet other cultures and created new skills
in singing.

Lex now improvises in several music styles singing Italian, Portuguese, Spanish or English which makes
her very popular around the world. Besides the music she composed with Han Litz, she also creates
new lyrics and melodies on the spot, just by three words that the public gives her. As a singer of the
band Royals she plays with her own band members who are: Eric Calmes on bass, Simon Gitsels on
rhodes, Dirk Beets on flügelhorn and trumpets, Folker Tettero on guitar, Gilbert Breuer on Brazilian
percussion and Cyril Directie on drums.

For her live project with Royals she writes songs which are jazzy, soulful or latin orientated National
highlights fot lex & royals are Beurs van Berlage, Haarlem jazz festival, Nightclub Panama, The Arc and
many more.

 

Jazz

Since the royals and interpretation ex has found her vocal possibilities expanding with every song she
performed. She now masters a range of beautiful jazz songs, standard as well as highly original and has
improvised jazz with her favourite musicians in a way that many jazz lovers hadn't seen for a long time.
Compared with great voices like Anita Baker and Shirley Bassey she has yet begone a sparkling carreer
as a jazz singer. She performs with Eric calmes, Folker Tettero, Joost Swarts, Simon Gitsels and others.

 

Releases

Many had asked before... "when will she release her solo album?" She always considered travelling and
performing her priority. Last year she finally took it up with DJ Jeroenski and Sven and a few other
producers and the tracks were released in the beginning of 2005 on 12". Her contribution on
synesthesia; "when the sun goes down" and "eneas" are beautiful records that were appreciated a lot
around the globe.

Soon she hopes to release a track with the born to funk team. Their collaboration is a lot of fun already
and very promising for end of 2006
